About

Modern Day Dunfermline Model Aero Club logo. This is an updated version of the 1950s "Bat" design

We are the longest continuously established club in Scotland founded in 1936. Also we are the only multidisciplinary club in Scotland with members building and flying a wide range of model types. Our aim is to encourage the building and flying of all types of model aircraft in the Dunfermline and wider Fife area.

Our members are mainly involved in the Control Line area of the sport but the Radio Control and Free Flight disciplines are also catered for.

Most members are “sport flyers” but others have competition success in control line and free flight at UK level.

Beginners

Building a model may be a daunting prospect for a beginner. This need not be so as models can be bought ready made. Also  experienced club members will act as instructors in both building and flying if requested and will supervise new members until they are able to fly solo in a safe manner.

Before flying all Club Members must be insured and this requirement can be satisfied by the member joining the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) or  Scottish Aeromodellers Association (SAA). Acceptable insurance is also available from other sources.

Meetings

The Club has a flying field for Control Line near Inverkeithing and other sites near Dunfermline and Saline for Radio Control glider and electric power. Free Fight members use the Scottish Aeromodellers Association national site in the Pentland Hills. Flying takes place during the week and weekends as weather permits in the flying season and indoor meetings are held monthly.
